TWIS #15

This is when we had to communicate through posters.
This week in science I re-did the marshmallow challenge with my group. This time we was told not to talk so what we had to do was find a way  to communicate with each other so what we did was  was write our ideas on a post it. It was pretty hard to stay quiet the whole time but I  can say that we spoke a bit only because we couldn't write it down.

This is when we was trying to make the marshmallow tower
My group and I putting together our tower

While doing this challenge I learned that working with your teammates helps a lot. Something else I learned was that communicating through posters kinda worked but then It didn't because there was to much to write. Another thing I learned as I was working with my group is that having a smaller group is better because we get to do things faster instead of having a lot of hands doing one thing

This Year in Science - 10th grade Intro

Hello my name is Kaitlyn, Something I’m very interested in is art and math. I was never good in science until I decided to  step up and do what I got to  do . This year I’ve grown in science because I do what  I’m told to do, and even if I’m having trouble with something I find a way to understand it.  At the beginning of the year I didn’t really like science but as the year was going by I enjoyed doing experiments and projects like dissecting animals. I didn’t really struggle with anything this year in science. Something I would want the teacher to know about me  is that I’m more of a quiet  person like I’ll sit in my little corner and participate when I feel like I should

I think if we removed all plants what would happen is there wouldn't  oxygen inside the tank. Which means  the spiders and the fruit flies will die because they need oxygen in order to breathe. The only thing that  would be inside the tank is carbon dioxide  because of the spider and fruit flies is exhaling. So with out the help of the plants in the sealed tank all living things would die.

TWIS #12

What I did was create a Spider Observation Log so I can keep track of things like any changes that happen in my environment, and in the spider observation log I gave a bit of information on the spider and like what it eats, where do they live or be , and also what they need to survive, something else I had to do was sketch my spiders environment in the spider observation log. Another thing I did was I found out the definitions of commensalism, parasitism, and mutalism. The last thing I did was feed the spider with my group.

What I learned was that commensalism is when one organism is benefited and the other isn't affected, parasitism is when one organism gets benefit and the other gets harmed and  mutalism is when both organisms benefits from each other. I also learned that learning these definitions was hard to remember. Something else I learned was when you feed the spider you can't give it to much food. I also learned that when spiders eat the wrap it with their web.

TWIS #11

This week in science me and group drew how we wanted our spiders environment to look then the next day we went to a park down the block so that we can pick up a few items that we going to use to build our spiders environment and we was told to take pictures of things we thought was a part of the spiders ecosystem. We also was told to research some things and fill out the paper the teacher has given us and he also told us to make a annotated google doc so that we can upload the pictures we took on that document and give some information about what the pictures says. One thing Christopher did was dig in the dirt two things I learned from talking to Christopher was that you have to wear comfortable clothes to dig and it wasnt hard to find things in the dirt

This week I learned that you need the right tools in order to put together an  environment for a spider and making your spiders environment is kind of fun. Something else I Learned was its not always easy to come up with a question about a word that you was given. Another thing I learned was when you ask a question it  doesn't really matter how you ask it. The last thing I learned was working as a group makes it easier for you to complete something on time.
This picture shows what we thought was a part of the spiders environment

TMIS #10

This month  in science David has been absent for a week and Jaime was our teacher for a week. That week that we spent with Jamie we was working with our groups on testing water from Brooklyn, fish tank water, and school water. We tested if the different kinds of water had chlorine and hardness. We also worked on some work sheet. Jaime wasn't here for a few weeks.  We had a substitute for like a day and we was given a survey. Human Impact Institute came to our class every Friday to guide us through our project. When david got back we walked around the school and asked people a couple questions about each topic, which is water, transportation, energy, and waste, we also  started working more on our projects, what we did was draw a couple image for our slogan, then we had to pick one image that was our best and post it on a piece of paper.

This month in science I really don't remember a lot of things I learned , but one thing I can say I learned was that the school water has chlorine. Another thing I learned was how to test water for minerals, waste, and chlorine. Something else I learned was that when you go out to ask people questions no everybody is going to stop and most of them have attitude, and they lie most the time about having time to stop and answer. Last thing I learned was that its not always easy to do group work because some people dont be wanting to do what they have to do.

Human Impact Ad Campaign

In this image Im showing you our Water You Gonna Do When its gone campaign. It shows that the people on the boat  have done the opposite thing and threw garbage in the water.
